The H.R. De Bolster Scholarship, established by Redeemer’s founding president, Rev. Dr. Henry R. De Bolster, has been endowed on the occasion of Rev. De Bolster’s 85th birthday (November 2) and in recognition of his many contributions to Redeemer. The intention was to surprise Rev. De Bolster with the announcement, however he unable to attend due to illness. His son, Dr. Len De Bolster accepted the presentation on his behalf. The announcement was made on November 25 at the Cornerstone Dinner, the annual recognition event for donors of named award funds. Dr. De Bolster described Redeemer as one of Rev. De Bolster’s “children” and those attending the dinner, as “family.” Although the H.R. De Bolster Scholarship has been awarded for many years, contributions from friends and family have allowed Redeemer to establish it as a permanent, endowed scholarship in Rev. De Bolster’s name. The fund will generate a minimum $2,000 award annually for a senior student who is completing a missions minor at Redeemer. The Cornerstone Dinner celebrates and thanks those who support Redeemer students by funding named scholarships and Cornerstone, the general scholarship program.
