He is known around Redeemer as one of the strongest male Royals runners in the school’s history. Alumnus Taylor Kraayenbrink showed Hamilton why on Sunday when he won the Road2Hope Marathon. Not only did Kraayenbrink do well, he ran his fastest race at 2:21:11 in the event of over 1,000 runners. Kraayenbrink was a Redeemer Royal Cross Country runner from 2009 to 2012 and team MVP twice. He was also named the Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2012. The Redeemer alumnus qualified for the 2015 Boston Marathon, but he is declining to attend and instead plans to keep training and running local marathons. He says he will run the Boston Marathon, just not in 2015. Kraayenbrink told The Hamilton Spectator that winning makes bettering yourself that much more satisfying: 鈥淚t鈥檚 the cherry on top. It’s very satisfying to win, and to have a personal best.
