The investment of hard work and study came to fruition for 142 students at Redeemer’s 2018 convocation ceremony on Saturday, May 26th. Graduates received Bachelors of Arts, Bachelors of Science, and Bachelors of Education in the university’s 33rd conferring of degrees.
Canadian hockey icon, Paul Henderson, formerly of the Detroit Red Wings, Atlanta Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs was the convocation speaker this year. In his address, Henderson congratulated students on their success and shared his story about becoming a Christian, going deep in the faith, and the importance of finishing well.
Noah Van Brenk, well-known on campus for his work in Redeemer’s Admissions department and as a research assistant for Dr. Kevin Flatt’s upcoming book on the history of secularization, shared graduate reflections on behalf of the class. He graduated with a B.A. honours english literature major and philosophy and history double minor.
Jonathan Fischer was awarded special recognition for his academic excellence and high standing at the university, graduating with a B.Sc. honours math, and philosophy double major, and computer science and physics double minor. Fischer received both the Faculty Award — presented to the student who best exemplifies academic excellence, Christian leadership and active participation in the life of Redeemer — and the Governor General’s Silver Medal for the highest academic standing at the university.
