Rebecca Lane, board chair

Lane lives in Toronto with her husband and their three children where they are active congregants at Christ Church Toronto, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America. She is the founder and director of the Lane School of Music, managing three campuses in the Greater Toronto Area. She is also the CEO of Rebecca Lane Coaching, assisting other music studios with business strategies.

鈥淎s board leadership transitions from one gifted, experienced leader to another, I feel confident that the university and its mission and vision are in good governance hands,鈥 says president Dr. David Zietsma. 鈥淚 look forward to working with Rebecca and the rest of the board to ensure that Redeemer works out its mission to prepare students to reflect the love of Jesus Christ in every career and calling.鈥

As she transitions into this role, Lane looks forward to applying her skills behind the scenes in a new way.

鈥淎s an entrepreneur, it鈥檚 always fun and interesting to look under the hood of what鈥檚 happening at Redeemer,鈥 says Lane. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an honour to be a small cog in this large organization and to witness God鈥檚 plan unfold through so many different people and programs.鈥

Lane understands the value of an environment that nurtures faith in Christ and academic excellence. As a result, she and her husband have enrolled their three children in Christian education.

We also want to see students equipped with the skills to honour God through joyful work when they enter the workplace.

鈥淚t鈥檚 important to support institutions that will allow Christians to live out their faith. We also want to see students equipped with the skills to honour God through joyful work when they enter the workplace.鈥

Lane succeeds former board chair Denis St-Amour, who held this role for more than three years. As chair, he led the board when Redeemer navigated the challenges and opportunities of COVID-19, rapid enrolment growth, the construction of the Charis Live and Learn Centre, new degree development and a presidential transition. St-Amour also served as co-chair of the presidential search committee for Redeemer鈥檚 fifth president, Dr. David Zietsma. In the marketplace, he is the president of Strategic Advisory Services, a business consulting firm. St-Amour has one year left in his term and serves as past chair. Gina Taylor remains as vice chair and Phoebe Mitton continues as governance chair.
