God Sightings: Patience

October 31, 2016

As we have been digging into our theme text from Ephesians 4:1-6, God has been doing some deep work in our lives. Here are a few reflections from our community on how God has been growing them in patience.

“I am someone who likes to have my life planned out and spend my days dreaming and working towards my future. Recently I have realized how much my plans were idols that came before God. As I’m learning to give control over to God I am faced with the reality that I don’t know what God has planned for me. In this season of patience I am learning how to be still and to rest in who I know God is.” – Chantal聽Masselink

“Fourth year, not knowing what to do. But waiting on God is actually the best place to be.” – Chelsey Hurst

“God has grown, and is growing, patience in me by helping me to put myself in the shoes of the person who’s bothering me. Asking why they’re behaving as they are, and imagining what their own circumstances might be, encourages me to be merciful and patient when otherwise I would be annoyed and judgmental. I’ve needed to do exactly this exercise on several different occasions this week!” – Dr. Deborah Bowen.

“God always grows patience through disequilibrium聽飞颈迟丑颈苍听me or crisis聽辞耻迟蝉颈诲别听of my control. And of course, when one prays for patience, one often gets blessed with a trial of some kind. God never lets one escape the lesson of learning patience.” Dr.聽Christina聽Belcher
