Enno Meijers, the Chair of Redeemer鈥檚 Board of Governors, has been appointed by the Attorney General of Ontario to be a judge in the Ontario Court of Justice. A brief announcement of the appointment is found on the Ministry of Attorney General鈥檚 website. This appointment is a significant honour and accomplishment for Mr. Meijers. Unfortunately, however, the Court鈥檚 gain is also Redeemer鈥檚 loss. Because of his appointment, Meijers must resign from all governance boards on which he serves, including those of Redeemer and Unity Christian High School in Barrie. The resignation is effective immediately. President Krygsman calls the appointment bittersweet. 鈥淭he appointment speaks well of Redeemer and of the quality of candidates that serve on our Board. Enno brought to his work for Redeemer a strong passion for Christian education, wise and judicious leadership, and a gentle, inclusive, and gracious tone to our deliberations. Clearly, the Attorney General has seen some of those gifts in Enno. We will miss his service to Redeemer.鈥 The appointment has not been without some sense of loss for Justice Meijers. 鈥淚 have been actively involved in multiple boards, particularly Christian school boards, for 20 years and I am having some difficulty giving up that aspect of my life for the foreseeable future. However, I view this appointment as an honour and a calling, and am excited by the many opportunities for service it will afford.鈥 Justice Meijers remains committed to the cause of Christian education and hopes to serve Redeemer in various ad hoc capacities in the future. 鈥淚 have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the board and have felt privileged to be part of the great Kingdom adventure that Redeemer represents.鈥 In the meantime, Dr. Krygsman is grateful for the time and service that Meijers has already given. 鈥淚 want to thank Enno for his dedication to Redeemer and his excellent leadership of our Board. We pray for God鈥檚 rich blessing and wisdom to Enno and his family as he takes up his new responsibilities.鈥
