On Saturday, May 27, the 32nd convocation ceremony saw the conferring of 169 degrees to graduates of Redeemer鈥檚 three programs 鈥 Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education. Donning traditional academic regalia 鈥 many for the first time 鈥 .
A congratulatory address, entitled 鈥淒uring monumental change, God is our refuge and strength鈥, was delivered by Peter Bulthuis, associate director of church relations at World Renew. Bulthuis has a deep background in Christian education, teaching and administrating at a variety of Christian elementary and secondary schools, on top of instructing geography adjunctly at Redeemer for over 25 years. The student speaker was well-known badminton player Owen Kurvits.
The faculty award, given to the member of the graduating class who best exemplifies academic excellence, Christian leadership and active participation in the life of Redeemer, was awarded to Nico Thiessen. The Governor General鈥檚 silver medal, awarded to the student who graduates with the highest standing in his or her school, was awarded to Kadee Lankhof.
